The Calendar Vote

Here’s your chance to make the big decision. Choose your favorite pictures from the selection and see them appear in the IAJET calendar for next year.

There will be 13 winners, which will later be arranged into the 12 months and the cover photo. But if you see a photo that you think would be perfect for a certain month (or the cover), please don’t hesitate to make a comment on this post [there's no need to login to post].

First, the poll, and below, the images. Click on an image to see a larger version.

Upcoming Events

We’ve got a few IAJET events coming up this winter season.

First, it’s a day of Disney as we take a magical ride to Tokyo Disney Sea on Nov 19.

Next, there’s a Christmas Party at Casa del Chris on Dec 17.

And don’t forget the big trip of the year to Sapporo Snow Festival in February!

2011 orientation guides UP!

The presentations from the orientation in Mito have been uploaded to the Guides page.

  • the Orientation introduction (Ibaraki, organaizations)
  • Daily Living (food, cleaning)
  • Communications (phones, net)
  • Transportation (cars, trains, bikes)
  • Health & Emergency Preparation (doctors, kits)
  • Communication at Work (talk to people)

1st years can now view them again and again to your hearts’ desire. Old JETs can also check them out to see if there’s anything you’re missing in your Japan life.

Minor Additions

The Ibaraki Places google map has been added to the site (see: Map page) as well as the calendar. The map is a little sparse outside of Hitachi, so please do click on the link to the right and contribute. The calendar will be updated with IAJET and other Ibaraki-related events.

Enjoy the last few days of school and the beginning of the unforgivingly blistering, sweltering, sticky and outrageously hot summer holidays (which I hate btw, bring on winter)

A big welcome to all the new JETs who will be coming this year. Wherever you may be placed, whatever schools you may work at, you are sure to have the experience of your life while you are here.

And a sorry, tearful goodbye to all the leavers who will be finishing in a month. We wish you all the best and hope that you have a wonderful future ahead of you
